Your Righteousness Must EXCEED The Righteousness Of The Scribes & Pharisees

There is much to be said of the “Scribes and the Pharisees” in the New Testament.  However, Jesus said to his disciples:

For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

The Scribes and Pharisees followed the law of God to the absolute fullest extent.  Obviously, there were some Scribes and Pharisees in Israeli cities that were snooty for Jesus told them off in Jerusalem:  

But woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men, for you yourselves do not enter in; and those that are going in, you suffer not to enter.

So, Jesus is talking about something specific here.  The Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Heaven.  He mentions…
