Interregnum; the Pieces are in Place

Sort of an off day today, but we’ll stick with the celebration of brave men liberating a continent.

First, there was the air war, in East Anglia they call it ‘The Friendly Invasion’, and so it must have seemed as another Air Force at least the size and power of the Royal Air Force settled in, The 8th United States Army Air Force we called it.

It seems the Anglians and the Americans got on well enough, for each to have good memories

But today, Portsmouth is in the spotlight, because 75 years ago tonight, a good part of the force committed to the liberation of Europe will sail from here, to invade Normandy thus starting the Mighty Endeavor.
